In honor of Father’s Day, The AND Campaign’s Whole Life Committee wishes all dads a Happy Father’s Day. We honor and applaud present, engaged, and loving fathers. The Whole Life Committee recognizes the important role that fathers play in the lives of their children and families. Fathers can have a positive or negative impact on a child’s life.

Psalm 103:13: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.”

Being a father is a huge privilege and responsibility. For many children, their father can often shape their view of God and His character. For daughters, fathers are their first example of how to expect to be treated by men. For sons, fathers are their first example of how to be a father and man.

The AND Campaign affirms the nuclear family while acknowledging the different family circumstances such as co-parenting, single-parent homes, incarcerated parents, adopted families, foster families, and other family structures. We recognize that families are sometimes created in less than perfect circumstances.

Psalms 127:3: “Children are an inheritance from the LORD. They are a reward from Him.”

We know regardless of how a family is created, God sees family as a blessing and children as a reward. God loves and values the dignity of each human being.

For women considering abortion, the father’s opinion is often the most influential voice outside of her own. We are praying for the healing of fathers who, against their desire, lost a child to abortion. We are also praying for the healing and restoration of fathers who pressured women into having abortions or remained silent as their child was being aborted. We are also praying for those fathers who desire to be more engaged in their children’s lives but are facing barriers and challenges. We reject the idea that men should remain silent on the topic of abortion. We reject the belief that fathers should remain silent instead of defending the lives of their unborn children. We encourage men to engage in the conversation surrounding abortion with compassion and conviction. In order for men to be heard in this conversation, here are some ways to compassionately enter into the abortion discussion and be respectful, supportive, life-affirming influencers.

This Father’s Day, the Whole Life Project challenges all men and fathers to; commit to reflecting the heart of God by defending the life of the innocent and unborn, embrace the blessing and responsibility of being leaders within their families and be a light amongst their peers by living holy and set apart lives that glorify Christ.

Happy Father’s Day from the AND Campaign’s Whole Life Project!
